Kaffarah

What is Qada and how is it different from Kaffarah?

Qada means making up the missed day of fasting.

  1. One day is fasted later
  2. It replaces the broken fast

Kaffarah is an additional expiation required only when a fast is deliberately broken during Ramadan.

If a fast is deliberately broken:

  1. Qada replaces the missed fast
  2. Kaffarah serves as an expiation for intentionally breaking the fast.

Genuine repentance, seeking forgiveness, and making an effort to avoid repeating mistakes are essential parts of fulfilling Kaffarah.
