What is Qada and how is it different from Kaffarah?
Al-Ihsan Foundation Admin·Admin·alihsan admin
Qada means making up the missed day of fasting.
- One day is fasted later
- It replaces the broken fast
Kaffarah is an additional expiation required only when a fast is deliberately broken during Ramadan.
If a fast is deliberately broken:
- Qada replaces the missed fast
- Kaffarah serves as an expiation for intentionally breaking the fast.
Genuine repentance, seeking forgiveness, and making an effort to avoid repeating mistakes are essential parts of fulfilling Kaffarah.
